CTA Health Tourism Strategy leads to US$170m investment in 5 star medical facility in Jamaica (15-2-13)
The Jamaica Observer reported that a US Consortium is to build a US$170 million hospital to target North American and Caribbean patients. The article reports that "These efforts were set in train by a comprehensive JAMPRO-led study of the industry's potential that was completed in 2011, with the assistance of the Commonwealth Secretariat." This study, which included the development of a national strategy for health and wellness exports was undertaken by CTA economic & Export Analysts Ltd and led by Mark Hellyer.
The article further reports success in securing this investment resulted from close cooperation between JAMPRO, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Tourism. This was a central recommendation in the study prepared by CTA. A fully copy of the article can be dowloaded here.
